misaki matsui 松井みさき 写真映像作家

神戸生まれ。日系・外資系の広告会社にて主にマーケティングプランナーとして勤務後、2008年に写真家になるためにニューヨークに渡る。風景・人物の写真展を日米で開催。2013年より映像も制作、フィクションやドキュメンタリーなどの監督作品が、ロンドンのレインダンス映画祭、モナコ国際映画祭、ショートショートフィルムフェスティバル & アジアなどに入選。2019年にニューヨークのムセイヨンより、英語写真集「Tokyo Mindscapes」を出版し、インターナショナル・フォトグラフィ・アワードなどの本部門に入選、世界各国で発売中。江戸小紋型彫りと華道からもインスピレーションを受け、2022年に写真と映像に切り絵、華道を取り入れたアート個展「memories of a mermaid - 人魚の記憶」を東京にて開催。一貫して、’ no moment without hope’をテーマに創作活動を行い、東京とニューヨークで活動中。

misaki matsui / film director + photographer

Born in Kobe, Japan. After working as a marketing planner at Japanese/multinational advertising agencies in Japan, she moved to New York in 2008 and began her career as a photographer.
She has exhibited in the U.S. and Japan. In 2013, she started making films as well and her narrative and documentary films have been selected for the Raindance Film Festival, the Monaco International Film Festival, the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia. Her photo book “Tokyo Mindscapes,” which was published in 2019, has been selected for the International Photography Awards and the London International Creative Competition and is available worldwide. Inspired by the Edo-Komon paper pattern engraving for kimono and Ikenobo floral art, she held a solo exhibition, “memories of a mermaid” in Tokyo in 2022, incorporating photos, film, paper cutting art, and ikebana. She loves the ocean, which she portrays in many of her works, and hopes to share the beauty of Japan’s beautiful nature and spiritual culture with the world. Her theme is “no moment without hope.” She is now based in Tokyo and New York.
